Splitsville?

Is it wrong that the first thought that crossed my mind when I heard these two split was not: "awww, that's too bad" but more along the lines of: "yay...maybe he will play better"? Surely, that isn't entirely inappropriate.

Welcome....

I've posted most of these pictures before...but since I haven't played in a few weeks...I figure re-posting pictures is better than nothing at all right? Right??

Anyway...welcome to our home. This is a view standing from the door looking into the living room. We actually have a pretty big entry hall. And...it's got a real sharp turn in it...two if you count the turn right as you walk in the door. Makes moving in couches and dryers and large shelves a BLAST. Well...you know, for the hubs. I just stand back and say don't hit the wall. Which, I'm sure only adds to the fun.

If you are new here (HI!)...we live in an apartment. It's brand new and really has a lot of character, like the arches and built in shelves. Of course it also has loud neighbors and serious lack of parking and ever increasing rent ...but lets just focus on the good things.

I'm not sure what to do with shelves. But...after Christmas (see below) this is what I did with these shelves...and so it stays. One....I'm lazy. and Two....still no clue what to do with them.

This is our little key holder right next to the door. It's got two pictures places and a mirror. I want to paint it black...but I just haven't done that yet. I made the little plaque thingy...it says Love Lives Here. Which is true..most of the time.
The crystal and shelf mess.

The brown/teal damask things actually hung in my office at Luxe. They sat in my car for literally a year...from the day I left until the day they landed on these shelves....I couldn't be bothered with finding a place for them. Ha. Anyway...it works really well because they take up a lot of room on my shelves. There are two more on the dining room shelves.
The cat is my parent's. But...because we don't have a cat here (have I ever shared the story of the kitten we had for a few days?...I'll have to do that)...we have pictures of Buddy. The 4 older pictures in the black frame are of my Dads' Dad....who I never met. He died when my dad was like 3....and my Dad looks JUST like him. I love old pictures!

Looking down the hall to the bathroom and bedroom.

These are pictures of our door at Christmas. Mind you...I'd only lived here like 3 weeks when these were taken. And...we were still unpacking. But Christmas decorating takes precedence...Confession....the red/white snowflake welcome mat....still in front of our door. Lazy...check!

I love this wreath. C was terrified that someone would take it ... but since we live with mostly boys in their early twenties on our landing....I thought we were safe. And we were.
And...the shelves LITERALLY thrown together with the Christmas stuff. I'm really, really bad about finding pictures for frames. Here is all the proof you need. I have no clue who the graduate is....but we are really proud of him. (I finally put a picture of me in there...but I need to add my tassell).
Thanks for stopping by. One of these days I will get my master bedroom and patio pictures up.

I'm really excited about next week....kid's birthday parties!!! No, I don't have any kids....but I do love a good party.

Melanie Goodwin

Watching the ABC Primetime Crime special on Melanie Goodwin tonight. She went to school with my sister and her family went to our church. She was murdered almost 2 years ago. It is chilling to watch. She was 2 years younger than my sister....and I just can not imagine the loss.

Hillariousnes......Imagine It....

"imagine all the people....driving like they had a brain....." hahaha

How do you pick just one????

There is another blog hop going on....and I can't avoid this one. It's all about your favorite pictures. I'm a picture type of girl. I'm pretty sure that every picture I take holds (if only for a second) the "my favorite" honor. But...I suppose there are a few that stick out more than others. Of course....since Dalton (my 1st nephew) came along a few years ago....you can pretty much bet that "the faves" are D-centered.

Exhibit 1. Dalton and his Uncle Charlie (the hubs).....
When we VERY first started dating....C tried to run me away by telling me he never wanted kids. Little did he know that I was going through a "phase" where I wasn't sure I wanted them either. As the wind changes...so did my phase....and I was dead set on "changing his mind" for him. I'm pretty sure Dalton did that. And this picture is my proof.

Exhibit 2. Plus Me!!!
Me and the boys. How cute is my nephew? I mean c'mon!! Those eyes!! We were at my Uncle's lake house for my cousin's 1st birthday....and I took this impromptu shot on the balcony. Nevermind the fact that C is a little scruffy on the beard or that my hair is doing something unsanctioned. I love being an Aunt....and I can 't wait to be a Mommy...you know...later. Fun fact...when C and I got married last year....I got 10 (TEN!) new neices and nephews. The oldest of which is 5 years younger than me..and was one of C's groomsmen. hahahaha

Exhibit 3. Guitar Man...
Dalton is OBSESSED with guitars. Well...he was.....the obsession has faded a teeny tiny bit. My mom had guitars ALL over the house. From dancing animals with guitars to reall acoustics to fake electric...to the blow up guitar. If you were near D....you were in his band. I love that if you look closely....you can tell Dalton is cracking up. And....there were at least 3 other people with guitars there this day. One of which was me....whilst playing camera girl. I'm talented like that.

Speaking of music.....I'm throwing in a bonus non-Dalton favorite......

Exhibit 4. Meet Darius Rucker......
Last year for my birthday, I bought myself (and the hubs) VERY good seats to see Hootie and the Blowfish at Billy Bobs..... It was SO good. Better than Pat Green. Better than Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz. Better than Cross Canadian Ragweed. Better than Sheryl Crow. Almost as good as David Crowder. Not near as good as George Strait...but c'mon.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to link us up to your favorite picture(s).

Not Me...

-I am not freaking out about having a job. Nope. I'm totally cool with being unemployed. Nevermind the fact that we will be stuck living in this silly apartment with our crazy-loud neighbors. I'm not panicked about it at all.

-I did not drink coke twice today. And....I certainly didn't have Taco Bueno with a LARGE coke for dinner.

-I do not have LOTS of things to blog about....and just no energy to do it. Not me.

-I don't have a sunburn on my shoulders for swimming without sunscreen even though I am the color of snow and know better than to go outside without at least spf15.

-It's not me that has the worst internet grammar in the world, all while seeking a language arts teaching position. No. (And I don't use the "...." way TOO much either ....)

-I have not started playing bejeweled on facebook. I do not know how addictive the game is, or how before you know it, it is 1am.

-I am not looking forward to vacation time with the hubs. I mean we've been married 7months and he has worked a lot of nights and weekends (which is in no way related to the first item on the list...nope). It's not like I have something planned for every day he is off ... from road trips, to family visits to snuggly days. I mean, I wouldn't do such a thing. Oklahoma, is definitely not calling my name. Definitely...not.

If you want to make the world a better place....

Just sharing my favorite MJ song.

I grew up listening to his music. I can remember my cousin trying to teach me to moonwalk in my grandmother's kitchen. Truly the blind leading the blind...At least I did develop a sliver of rhythm over the years...though I probably shouldn't brag about that.

I'm so not good with sad news...I really try to avoid it. I also don't like confrontations or bad news. I prefer to live in a happy bubble...it's just easier. But...the last few weeks have been super difficult...what with the job search, being sick, and serious family issues. Thursday I started the day off with the HR lady from my "DREAM JOB" letting me know the position had been filled. It ended with a confrontation with our new neighbors at 3am in the morning...including me in my pj's ready for a fight. And..well, you know how the rest of the day went.

Anyway...I love this song...I think it has always been my favorite. I like You Are Not Alone too, but the video weirds me out. I guess you can't be my age and not have been musically impacted by him in someway during childhood.

So...we got new neighbors. Apparently...they are quite the night owls.

Of course...this is fine with me...as I I'm practically nocturnal. However....the whole night owl + repetitive door slamming for 30 minutes = not cool. I was actually in bed (yay!) when it started at 245am....and at 3, I'd had enough. I went out into the breezeway...in my long t-shirt and serious attitude (scary!)....followed by the hubs in his pj bottoms (to protect me). They were headed back up the stairs and C (disliking confrontation even more than me) thought we could just shut the door and deal with things later. I figure....I'm already out of bed (and looking glorious...ha!)...so I just stand there. The first guy rushes right into the apartment...while his partner in crime is startled by the half dressed neighbors (with bed head) and says...and I quote...."did we wake y'all up?"

Umm. NO. We actually like to stand out here half clothed, fists in the air, in the MIDDLE of the night...it's sort of relaxing....OF COURSE YOU WOKE US UP DUDE.

Only 9 more months of apartment living....
